Quick Background

Jarrod & Heather McKee are parents to Camden and Carson McKee. Carson was diagnosed at his one week checkup with Cystic Fibrosis. That day forever changed the lives for us as a young couple, but in a positive way that we never could have imagined. We quickly became active and began fundraising and spreading awareness. Soon after we started 2 Lungs 1 Fight, a 501 3(c) nonprofit. This nonprofit was created in response to the Vertex Pharmaceuticals Circle of Care Grant program.

As parents, we found a need to to fill an empty void of parents seeking comfort, answers from other parents, and optomism we greatly needed. Creating this atmosphere has made our experience with cystic fibrosis so much easier and reduced the emotional pain and anxiety we felt early on. What we’ve learned the most is that we are not alone in this lifelong journey. The interaction with parents and caregivers has been therapeutic in a sense as they continue to "walk in our shoes."

We felt a big need to create a way for this interaction to happen more so other than at CF events. Our goal is to provide a positive atmosphere in which parents/caregivers can interact with eachother through a blog like medium. We all have our ups and downs with Cystic Fibrosis, but we want to focus on the great things happening in the CF world. The research and drug development have been gaining much momentum and we can’t be anything but optimistic.  We personally have enrolled our child in research studies, fundraised, & now attempting to take awareness to the next level! We want to inspire others to do the same. Don't be ordinary, be extraordinary!

How it all Began...

2 Lungs 1 Fight was initially funded through the Cirlce of Care Grant process through Vertex Pharmaceuticals. Since our inception in 2013, we have relied on donations and fundrasing through private events to continue our mission of helping families through the newborn diagnosis.
